Fouls?? - sliding underneath a passing player

It's been pointed out that a certain move may be a foul, although some opinion thinks not.

The move is to slide under a player who has just gone past and is finning with possession of the puck. .... this move is with the intention of catching up to reach the puck.
The move itself not only seems to lift the player (with the puck) off the bottom, it also hinders the finning action of the player trying to fin with the puck.
It was thought this move to be a foul for 2 reasons:
1. lifting the player off the bottom
2. obstructing the legs and the finning, therefore impeding foreward movement with the puck.

opinion against:
1. its ok to slide underneath but not to lift off bottom
2. no real impedance is caused.

??? so is it a foul

Someone mentioned this - its a valid point and I would agree is a foul - mainly for the obstruction to the finning - the player finds it hard to finn away because the leg movement is impeded.

One thing I would mention is that when the club play video footage is collected - it will be easy (and fun) to watch these examples and then give an opinion. It is easier to known more precisely what is being discussed and is easier for those that donot know the game to ''watch, then read comments'' - they will be learning as well.

HURRY UP!!!! Wink (I do know of the financial set up -and must congratulate for surviving and overcoming it) others would have perished!

well done.

yeah its actually ok so long as you are going directly for the puck... a certain amount of contact is allowed, as in football etc.

if the ref thinks you are swimming into the player and not swimming for the puck, you'll probably be pinged for obstruction.
