10 in a team. How do you use subs?

I've picked up that you have 10 in a team. 6 in the water in play and 4 subs on the side.

I wondered how often and for how long the interaction with the subs, goes on for.

Thanks for your time

as far as i'm aware there are no restrictions to the amount of times that subs can be used through-out the game.

when one of the six players decides to sub, they must swim to their end of the pool (or one agreed place on the pool-side) and get their body clear of the water, before the sub (who is ready, primed and waiting) can enter the water and join in where ever the game is going on in the pool.

It's often a team stratergy to arranged who is subbing who, before the game starts.

hope helps a little.
