Those 'hampster-feed' water bottles are in numbers, on the side of the pool, either for the swim clubs or the underwater hockey pool time. They are on the side of the athletics tracks and on the field game side-lines.
When asked what is in them, the answers range from standard water to magic properties 'go-go' juice.

What ever the added components, if any, may be - the water is the fundamental need for the body to function efficiently.
It helps maintain a good blood consistancy. The blood carries gasses such as O2 and CO2 that the body needs to deliver and get rid of to and from the working muscles. It also is the carrier of working nutrients (such as sugars) and working waste matter such as (lactic acid). Well hydrated blood can do this efficiently.

Stay hydrated by sipping water before during and after exercise.
