An idea a while ago,

in the local region - obviously ulteria motives and nothing to do with liking the game or supporting the sport.

An idea was to support the local league through the provision of a local ref. This person would and was able to provide support to local clubs during league matches... i.e. ring the person up who is willing to ref and let them know you have a match. The night of the week unimportant as free most of the time or would otherwise be swimming anyway. Travelling costs = zero to the club, time for ref = zero for the club.

The idea was that if the club felt they could benefit from marshalled games, so the game would develop. new players would be introduced at a local level to a controlled game, rather than the steeper learning curve of national competitions where the marshals would apply rules to the letter of the law.

The game would also gain great respect from other sports, i.e. the game would could be percieved as have an element of professionalism, where as the local leagues usually have matches with either no refs or very inexperienced players \ refs with limited knowledge or confidence to control a game.

However this was a mad mans idea - complete rockin horse mad idea - scarry - ------- whooooaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr obviously this idea would have required some kind of following or stalking?!
Laughing

Jack a nory story - but i think the idea would benefit the sport and would take the game forward - as the ref could have invited another individual along to gain experience of marshalling a game \ provide training i.e. shadowing, zzzzz zzzzz zzzzzz zzzzz

Youve written this as if it is written by a disgruntlrd ref who wanted to ref (control) a legue (the games within it) but was not wanted.

I know a club legue that offers one of the home players to ref the game each time and this is adequate for the level of competitiveness that the clubs need ...... never too out of control or bias ...... and all in the pub afterwards, in good cheer(ish!).

If you want more structure in a legue with a reputable ref then the ref would have had to undergo a reputable ref course ..... otherwise it is just the usual 'personal want' or 'personal wish' that the game become more controlled (by someone who may think they are good, but are not qualified in a recognised or respected standard) ..... which might not be the wish of the clubs.

The key is in the Qualification.....
Is there a recognised ref qualification for underwater hockey?

...... some one should get this first
...... then themselves organise a leaque and invite teams that wish to subsubscribe to the organised controls.... if organised properly, then structure would be present.

Anyone can go to any club league with your 'thinking', but unless they (the club leageu) wish to subscribe, it wont happen..... and if they dont subscribe: rather than sound all disgruntled and wingey ..... do as sugested and get it going and organise your own..... then you can prove it is worthwhile.... or not:

So I repeat:
The key is in the Qualification.....
Is there a recognised ref qualification for underwater hockey?

You've written this as if you know whet and where it was for, otherwise how could you come to the conclusion its not wanted?

I have written as if i was someone who could support the sport to become more creditable to the outside eye.

How many five a side football legues (same like this spelling) do you see that have zero ref.......? or indoor hockey, basket ball......

A qualification to ref, do you not know about the grading system, level 3, 2 and 1......... as a person who made grade one.. took control of the ladies euro finals on two occassions..france 1997, and yugo 2001 it would suggest more than suitable, and adquate to share knowledge with other local refs \ players. over 10 year top level ref at national uk........ but what do i know about the game?! Rolling Eyes

as for controlling no, not my department more likely to be the role of a female....... (blonde \ tashlip or not) then the males over 40 can be very excited and think they are very pretty, and slim ?! Very Happy

personal wish........ not other wishes before that like, live in peace, play hockey without been bullied . ..... or dream yeah corn flakes . cause that will never happen J Laughing but thats fun......join a gang

Why should you have to organise the league a new league when it can support an existing one........ the league already works Shocked

The simple point that I see you are making is that the game of underwater hockey.... (like most other sports does), should have a ref involved when playing.

I'm pretty sure most people would agree that unbias judgements / pointers and if need be penalties will:
1. Teach new players on what is acceptable and what is deemed unfair or fouling play
2. Discipline or if neccessary, punish players that overstep these game rules

------------------------------------------
People from all over the world look at these post, and most feedback and research points to the fact that leagues DO have refs in the water (two if possible in the water and one on side of pool).

Maybe in your individual local area you dont have this..... So this is dissapointing perhaps, but if you are qualified, then it is just a local problem and not perhaps something that is problematic in the wider picture of the game.

..... you make comments in your posts (derogatrory comments about girls)..... this type of attitude is not going to get to many of your local sports people interested in your qualifications if they spot some sort of rude attitude.

I think your basic point is beneficial... refs in the water are beneficial to the game

I see your point about this to a certain element, however limitations exist in relation to where you are? As not all have these provisions.

Sorry you think some comments are rude to women, this is a mis conception and you should have a look at two specific factors which create a problem................

t****, and b*****.
